Homemade, just for the holiday

On Thanksgiving, we usually enjoy the kind of food most of us will rarely have again the rest of the year.

Homemade mashed potatoes. Homemade stuffing. Homemade pie. Homemade cranberry sauce.

What do these Thanksgiving favorites have in common? They’re all homemade.

The truth is I haven’t used a potato peeler in a very long time. If I manage to get a meal on the table a few nights a week, I feel as if I’ve done all right.

So along comes Thanksgiving, and all those homemade, once-a-year treats: the green-bean casserole (those canned fried onions!), the homemade rolls (with real butter!), Aunt Mary’s to-die-for pumpkin crumble (Real sugar! Real whipped cream!)

And if you’re like me, you just want to dive right in.

Here’s a radical thought: is there any harm in that? It’s just one meal on one day.

There. I said it. Out of the 1,095 meals (give or take) we’ll eat in a year, this is just one.

So go ahead. Indulge a little. I know I will. Not to the point of discomfort, mind you, but I’ll definitely savor and give thanks for every one of those homemade goodies on the table.

And I’ll also add Nutrilite® Carb Blocker 2 to my meal, because it may prevent up to 500 carbohydrate calories from being absorbed.

After all, this is probably the most carb-filled meal of the year. And if I can block a few of those carbs without losing vitamins, minerals, and fiber – well, why wouldn’t I?

One more thing I plan to do: Hit the treadmill first thing Friday morning.

Whether you choose to indulge or eat salad, I wish you and your family a wonderful, delicious Thanksgiving!
