THE NEWBIE
Editor’s Note: This post was originally published on the Interns Expose Amway blog.
I hate being the new kid. I’m sure everyone does. But hey, you can’t be the regular, until you’re the newbie, right?
So that’s me – the new kid. I’m Samantha Bourque, the new public relations intern in corporate at Amway and now, it’s my turn to manage this blog.
Let me introduce myself. I hail from the East Side of Michigan, in Novi, and I used to think there wasn’t much past Lansing. That is, until I arrived at Grand Valley State University. Three years later, I have fallen in love with the Lake Michigan shoreline, the city and oddly, the lake effect snow. I’m a television addict, avid sports fan, and outdoor enthusiast.
I once heard that it takes more muscles to frown than smile. I’ve never longed for a strong muscular face, so I try to smile as much as possible and help those around me smile, too. I hope that during my time here that I can make you all smile too. Feel free to comment once in a while, and let me know if I am succeeding – I’d really appreciate it!
This blog is my first ever, so I am determined to catch on quickly and really start to expose Amway. I, along with other interns, will continue to research, report and fill you in on what it’s really like to be an intern at Amway. We will take you behind the scenes of this mile-long campus, and make sure you know Amway inside and out.
So help us out, what do you want to know about Amway and being an intern? Let us know and we will make it happen!

Congrats on your first blog post! It looked awesome!!
Welcome aboard, Bourque. The entire team is glad to have you! And we promise to keep the hazing to an absolute minimum. Speaking of which, we need you to translate for a few international tour groups just after you scrub the beakers in R&D and debug some code for IT…
Hi,
I’m Pierre and one year ago I was an IBO.
However I just renew my membership. I want
to congratulate you Samantha and by the way
we can keep contact it’s possible.
Hey Samantha. First of all thanks for your effort making this blog interesting and alive. And I’m sure that somebody with such a positive mind like yours (as far as I can tell from your first two posts), is gonna have a valuable Amway internship.
I often hear from others that the employees at Amway are… how should I say… kind of different compared with workers of other companies. Well, different is maybe the wrong word. But what I mean is that e.g. almost all of the staff is excited, that the people are caring, that they are encouraging, inspiring, positive, have fun, that you can feel the philosophy of the corporation.
What would you say about that as an insider?
It might be too early to answer that question as you’ve been there for only a short time. However, I (and hopefully the other readers too) would definitely appreciate an answer.
Thanks a lot and all the best for your future!
Markus
