Scientists at the Nutrilite Health Institute come to work each day focused on improving our products. They use their expertise to research ingredients, test them with bio-assays, conduct clinical trials and verify they meet stringent requirements in our Quality Assurance department.
But that’s not all they do. You’ll also find them leveraging their expertise to contribute to the larger nutrition science research community.
Marc Lemay, Ph.D., is a senior scientist with Amway and expert on vitamin D. He helped formulate our Nutrilite Vitamin D3 plus K2, and he’s weighed in on our blogs in the past about the importance of vitamin D supplementation.
Marc currently is serving as the guest editor of a special “Vitamin D” issue of Nutrients, an open access journal of food science and nutrition. Read Marc’s intro to the special issue to get his latest thoughts on this important micronutient.

Are you eating a variety of fruits and vegetables in your diet? You’re in the healthier minority if you are, according to the latest research by the Nutrilite Health Institute.
The findings were published today as the lead story in the peer-reviewed Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, following its online debut in November. In fact, this month’s entire issue is devoted to research on phytonutrient intake in the U.S.
The study, “Phytonutrient Intake by Adults in the United States in Relation to Fruit and Vegetable Consumption,” was co-authored by Nutrilite scientist Keith Randolph.
We’re proud of Keith and his colleagues, and look forward to news on their next discoveries. In the meantime, you can learn more about their work in this brief video.
Don’t have time to exercise? Don’t sweat it. Ten minutes of stretching, along with cardiovascular and strength exercises, can do the trick.
Studies show that a healthy diet combined with a short exercise routine can have a positive impact on our overall health.
At Amway, we encourage employees to be physically active throughout the day to achieve their own Optimal Health. In our California and Michigan facilities, for example, Amway offers the “Take 10” exercise program, a routine modified from the breakthrough 4321 program developed by Sean Foy, a lead fitness consultant for the Nutrilite Health Institute.
The program is simple. For 10 minutes, an employee volunteer leads a non-sweat exercise routine that helps with flexibility, coordination, strength, rejuvenation and counter-repetitive motions. Exercises include overhead reach, chin drops, shoulder rolls, elbow butterfly and chair squats.
It only takes a short time to make a long-term investment in feeling better and living longer.
Rizvi, who also counts among his accomplishments riding 435.6 miles (701 kms.) in 24 hours and riding from Mumbai to Bangalore and back in 3.5 days –a round trip of about 1,228 miles or 1,976 kms.- said that optimal health is all about balance, both in your eating habits and your exercise.
“A well-balanced diet, full of variety of fruits and vegetables and right supplementation go hand in hand with (a) fitness workout.”
If you look at the Nutrilite timeline in the appendix of Dr. Sam Rehnborg’s book, The Nutrilite Story, you’ll see that the fifties was a busy time for Nutrilite. Farming operations were expanding, a state-of-the-art research lab and quality control lab were built, and the first iteration of the butterfly shaped green plastic container to hold DoubleX was designed and created.
The marketing department was hard at work in the fifties, too. “Your Nutrilite Radio Theatre” debuted on the NBC Radio Network for the 1955-56 season. Every Sunday evening at 5:00 p.m., Pat O’Brien and Jimmy Wallington hosted the show that was a “brilliant series of original plays featuring Hollywood’s Top Stars.” There were 26 episodes that played on 172 stations across the country.
The marketers didn’t stop there, though. They ingeniously teamed with Hollywood scriptwriters and created the “Nutrilite Radio Theatre Contest” and accepted story ideas submitted from people all across the country. The winning entries were adapted and dramatized on the air throughout the season. 26 winners were flown to Hollywood for the “trip of a lifetime” and given the opportunity to appear on the radio program broadcasting their winning entry.
Imagine being in that radio studio in 1956 watching actors producing your story and broadcasting it across the country. That is truly ”Your Nutrilite Radio Theatre.”
On Sunday the winning chant in the Make Some Noise! competition played on the maxi-screen during an AC Milan home game at San Siro stadium. It was the culmination of a special contest on the AC Milan and Nutrilite Facebook pages that started in mid-October.
AC Milan soccer fans submitted videos of their original chants, ten chants were selected out of the submissions, and then the community of fans from both pages voted for their favorite chant.
And the winner… “Rosso e Nero” by Fabiano Fumerola.
It was a collaborative effort that was performed by a choir loudly singing out the chorus. Mr. Fumerola’s chant submission even received coverage in his local newspaper. It was played a total of four times in the stadium on Sunday, much to the delight of the players and the fans in the stadium.
AC Milan won the game beating Chievo Verona by a score of 4-0, so perhaps the extra encouragement helped spur the team on to victory! : )
Over the last month A.C. Milan and Nutrilite have been encouraging fans of AC Milan to Make Some Noise! and create chants to cheer the Rossoneri on to victory.
The top ten chants have been selected and today is last day to vote. The winning chant will be played on the maxi-screen in San Siro Stadium at AC Milan’s home game on November 27! So don’t miss out, cast your vote for your favorite chant on the Nutrilite Facebook page.
Today in Moscow, Nutrilite scientist, Dr. Keith Randolph presented research results from two new studies at the US – Russia Scientific forum. The results demonstrate that overweight Russian adults have stress markers – biological indicators of stress – that may be linked to poor long-term health outcomes. Like their American counterparts, many Russian adults are exhibiting signs that suggest future poor heart health.
