Better than ever

Two years ago Amway China launched the Amway Environmental Theme Park, a traveling exhibition offering fun, games and activities that helped  encourage environmental protection.

In 2010 the Theme Park went online with the launch of a web site that brought activities to a wider audience, while Amway China continued the offline park tour.

And this summer the Amway Environmental Theme Park was on the road again, touring 16 cities and reaching 240,000 people  – a 140 percent increase since the program began in 2009.

These numbers make the Amway Environmental Theme Park better than ever – online and off!

Taking wing

A new sponsorship for Amway North America is taking flight – or in this case, taking wing.

The U.S. National Hockey League Detroit Red Wings team announced that Amway will be the team’s presenting sponsor and Nutrilite the official nutritional supplement of the Wings.

The agreement makes Amway the first presenting sponsor in the Red Wings’ 86-year history and follows a 2010 deal that made Amway the official practice jersey sponsor of the Red Wings.

Amway will also present the Detroit Red Wings Facebook Fan of the Day and other social media events and partner with the team on a Boys and Girls Clubs of America program benefiting Detroit and Grand Rapids youth.

Back to school with Stuff the Bus

It’s time to start thinking about back to school shopping, but not every family can afford the essential items needed for their student to start school in the Fall. That’s why we’re stuffing the bus!

For the second year, we’re teaming up with Fifth Third Bank, the Student Advancement Foundation, Hand2Hand Ministries and our community to fill 3,000 backpacks with school supplies for middle school students in the greater Grand Rapids area.

We’re encouraging local residents to stop at any Fifth Third Bank financial center in the greater Grand Rapids area to donate new classroom essentials including: folders, pencils, pens, rulers, notebooks and erasers. Monetary donations are also being accepted. The collection period will conclude on August 20.

Whether you’re in our community or in another location around the world, there are many ways to help students prepare for back to school. What are some of the most creative ways you’ve seen an organization support schoolchildren?

Artistry on Ice is back!

China’s very own world class figure skating show is back.

Taking the ice for a second year are Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo, the Chinese Olympic gold medalists who exchanged vows during last year’s debut of Artistry on Ice presented by the Artistry brand and Amway China.

Inspired by the television series Sex and the City starring actress Sarah Jessica Parker, the pair will skate to a newly themed “Art and City” show.

Earlier today at the Trends Night Event in Shanghai, Amway China shared the news that Parker will be the spokesperson for both Artistry on Ice and the Artistry Intensive Skincare Renewing Peel exclusively in the Greater China Region from September 2011-February 2012.

Artistry on Ice kicked-off earlier this week in Beijing and will continue on to performances in  Shanghai and Taipei.

Building better performance

Yesterday Nutrilite and AC Milan announced their latest research findings on the link between nutrition and player performance  in a press conference at the Milanello training center in Italy.

Nutrilite and MilanLab conduct comprehensive player assessments using genetic test data and bioinformatics. Nutrilite then creates individualized nutritional and supplement recommendations for players. As a result of the tailored programs, player recovery time has improved and some success has been seen with research into the prevention of non-tackle injuries.

MilanLab understands that the key to optimal performance is integrating balanced nutrition and supplementation into their players’ regimens.

And AC Milan football players get it, too.

They understand that the scientific partnership between Nutrilite and MilanLab is an ideal combination. That was made clear by Gianlucca Zambrotta at the press conference. He’s one of the players who have seen  athletic performance improve through the nutrition program developed by Nutrilite and MilanLab scientists.

Just like you and me, athletes need balanced nutrition and supplementation in their diets to achieve optimal health. Not only to improve their playing careers, but also for the rest of their lives.

Making it meaningful

Amway spans the globe, and in order to do it effectively, the way we communicate our business opportunity, brands and corporate citizenship efforts needs to be culturally relevant.

That’s where localization – the process of adapting to a specific language or culture so that a product or item feels like it belongs – comes in. Localization includes not only translation, but also, culture, customs and other nuances of each region.

Amway is committed to excellence in its localization efforts, and to the industry as a whole. That’s why we’re supporting the Globalization and Localization Association (GALA) standards initiative. GALA’s members help companies, non-profits and governments communicate effectively to their worldwide audiences.

As part of this initiative, we’ll help create the building blocks defining the future of localization, and do our part to build awareness and adoption of best practices.

In doing so, we hope to have a different kind of impact on peoples’ lives all over the world. We’re used to talking about that impact in terms of personal economic freedom and children’s advocacy.

But this time – no matter what the subject – we’ll be helping to make it more meaningful.

Athletes train for years to prepare for the Olympic Games, and for 2012, the Chinese Sports Delegation will add Nutrilite to their training table.

Last month the Chinese Olympic Committee announced their partnership with Nutrilite to be the nutrition choice for the Chinese Olympic teams.

The sponsorship will include funds, products, sports nutrition and dietary guidance and personalized routines for Chinese Olympic athletes.

This is the third time Nutrilite will partner with the Chinese Olympic Committee to help them bring home gold.

500 in 1

A study conducted by Amway in 16 cities throughout Russia showed that more than 60 percent of respondents are immensely concerned about environmental issues caused by non-biodegradable products.

That’s just one of many reasons Amway Russia supports an initiative called “500 Waste Collection Actions in One Day,” through an organization called Musora. Bolshe. Net, which translates to ”No. More. Waste.” The organization is part of the larger, global Clean Up the World movement.

On May 15, 2011, Musora. Bolshe. Net set out – with 9,000 volunteers throughout Russia – to clean up parks, gardens and other public areas. Amway provided special gloves; garbage bags; LOC mini wipes; other Amway Home products; and most importantly, 470 distributor and employee volunteers.

By the end of the day, more than 160 tons of waste was collected and cities like Moscow, Samara, Novosibirsk, Ekaterinburg, Irkutsk and many others were cleaner. Musora. Bolshe. Net is an ambitious initiative, and 500 is just the beginning.

A goal for Naples

All season long the A.C. Milan soccer team has been putting the ball in the back of the net. Enough times to win the 2011 Serie A Championship.

Each goal they scored this year carried a little extra significance. Every time it happened, Nutrilite’s Goal by Goal campaign donated $2500 to fund the construction of a new sports center in the Poggioreale area of Naples.

The center and new soccer pitch was inaugurated last Thursday. A.C. Milan player Gianluca Zambrotta was there to cut the tape and kick the first ball across the field into the net, surrounded by dozens of schoolkids while doing so.

Everyone scored on this goal!
