Things were cookin' at the Ronald McDonald House!

Oct 13, 2008

One of the cool things about working at Amway is our annual Day Away. Each department gets to take a day off campus to volunteer. Last Friday the PR, Advertising, Sponsorship team spent some time cooking at our local Ronald McDonald House.

We began our day at Panera for coffee and breakfast then we headed over to pick up the groceries. The list was divided among the group and teams of 2 and 3 raced through the stacks to pick up what was on their list. Then we loaded the goods into the back of my car and headed to the Ronald McDonald House.

The house has a huge kitchen that has four mini-kitchens within each corner. In one corner Anna was baking chocolate chip cookies. In the second Lindsay and Kate were mixing up a mean mac and cheese. In the third corner Charlotte was taking the lead on the white chicken chili and beside her Cindy was browning ground chuck for the Droog secret chili recipe assisted by her sous chef Elizabeth who was busy chopping red and green peppers and jalapenos. At the table in the center of the room I was chopping onions and garlic while Robin was tossing the salad. Bethany was dodging between Charlotte and Cindy as she was mixing up two batches of corn bread and Karen was tag-teaming where help was needed. It was Iron Chef on steroids!

At the end of the session the only evidence of our visit was the smell of chili simmering in the crock pot mixed with the fresh baked aroma of chocolate chip cookies and cornbread.

We then headed out for a late lunch and some team building.

Robin and someone else (I can’t remember who) brought cameras so expect to see some pictures of our aproned crew soon.

I think what you said made a lot of sense.
However, think about this, suppose you typed a catchier title?

I ain’t saying your content is not solid., however what if you added a post title to maybe grab people’s attention?
I mean Things were cookin’ at the Ronald McDonald House! @ One by One is a little boring. You ought to peek at Yahoo’s front page
and see how they write news titles to get viewers interested.
You might try adding a video or a related picture or two to
get people interested about everything’ve written. Just my opinion, it might bring your website a little livelier.
