We have One by One numbers to announce!

Feb 23, 2009

To kick off our global look at the One by One campaign, I have some exciting news to share.

Since the program was launched in 2003, we have been diligently tracking our impact numbers every quarter, and reporting our cumulative totals at the end of the year. We just confirmed some big jumps in 2008:

- Amway, its employees and IBOs have now helped 6 million children worldwide.
- We have collectively donated $70 million.
- Our volunteers have given more than 1 million hours.

You can read the formal press release here. A big THANK YOU to everyone who has contributed to this success!

These are impressive numbers, but it’s really only the tip of the iceberg. Since the primary charitable focus for Amway is children, we don’t report on the many other things we do in our communities, just as good neighbors. We also know there is much more happening among our IBOs that we are not (yet!) aware of.

We are hearing about more programs – like child sponsorship by IBOs in the US that supports thousands of children around the world through World Vision … or a partnership with IBOs and the SOS Children’s Villages in South Africa … or donations of IBO bonuses to scholarships for underprivileged youth in Taiwan. These are just the ones that have come to our attention because they are happening on a big scale.

There are powerful stories out there, and numbers to back them up. There is a broad initiative to scale up existing One by One programs and start some new ones during the Amway 50th anniversary year.

Through this blog, we will be sharing more One by One stories with you to acknowledge your efforts, to offer ideas for getting involved … and of course, to inspire you to action!
