Sales pitch on poetry

April is National Poetry Month. A time to celebrate words and all the many ways you can create poetry to stir emotions, convey a message, entertain, delight, inspire, intrigue–and much more. I happen to be passionate about poetry. To say so much with so few words is an art I admire. I don't mean greeting card verses either although some are poetic prose.

This month, I won't attempt to sell everyone in my life on the pleasure of poetry, and I surely don't think I can convince others to write it. BUT, in sharing this short, simple poem with a heartfelt, universal message everyone can relate to., I hope to show you just how powerful words can be — and possibly, inspire you to use words to comment on this blog, sell your products, sponsor others in the business, compliment someone else, express your love, reach out to someone in need. Words are a tool for communication. And they are important in sales and in your business … and in life.

DREAMS

by Langston Hughes

Hold fast to dreams,

For if dreams die

Life is a broken-winged bird

That cannot fly.

Hold fast to dreams

For when dreams go

Life is a barren field

Frozen with snow.

May April be filled with poetry and possibilities for you.

Fuel your passion

According to Zig Ziglar, passion is a flame that burns within your heart, and inspiration is what fuels it. So where do you find the inspiration to keep the fire of passion flaming? After all, without fuel, the fire burns out? So, who is repsonsible for feeding the flame? Finding the inspiration? You? YES, YOU! If you don't inspire yourself, your passion will burn out. (sounds cold and lonely and dreary to me)

So how do you get passionate about a cause? a group? your family? Read about it. Maybe. Give financially. Possibly. Particpate. Absolutely. Invest in something … give of your time and talent … and the heart will follow– and within the heart, passion will ignite. Passion for a charity, belief in a cause, determination to achieve a dream, fierce loyalty to family. If you devote time, give of your talent and abilities, offer monetary gifts (or treasures), you will become inspired … and you will fuel your passion with this inspiration.  So, basically, it's about investing in passion as Zig Ziglar says … investing of your time, talent, and treasure.

Keep your passion alive by finding someone who possesses an intense passion, impressive professionalism, and sense of purpose in life you find admirable … and then acquaint yourself with this person. Suppose you want to be a motivational speaker on sales success. Can you think of someone you'd like to be your mentor? Suppose you want to lose 30 lbs. on the Trim Body System? Who might be an excellent role model? You dream of becoming a  Brand Manager some day. Do you have a mentor at work who inspires you continually to work towards this goal? For some, watching and learning from someone who is already successful at what they are passionate about achieving is inspirational. Is it for you?

Sometimes we are guilty of sitting back and waiting for others to come to us with inspiration. Hey, that's not going to happen. We need to get out there and get moving … get involved and you'll get inspired. Think about some of the events and gatherings you've been involved in that have inspired and energized you. Church? Sports games? Sales seminars? Toastmaster's Club? Neighborhood watches? Walks for a Cause? Writing Retreats? Art festivals? Poetry readings? Parades? Ethnic festivals? Book Clubs? Bowling leagues? Shared experiences can be so energizing … and so inspiring. I am constantly energized, inspired, and motivated by my monthly writing groups, monthly book club discussions, and semi-annual writing retreats. Who needs to stare at a silly show on TV when you can speak and share words with people  … words that inspire and keep passion alive.

Imagine who you are becoming and where you are going. DREAM! Let your imagination help you make your dreams a reality. Believe in your dreams … let passion flow.

So what has this got to do with selling? Everything. When inspiration is strong, passion is afire … and your self-confidence and strength is incredible. You are able to sell with ease, perform at your best, achieve your dreams.

So, this coming year, go and seek inspiration … keep your passion fueled within your heart. Invest yourself. Get involved. Share words and ideas through Sales Speak and the Opp Zone. Imagine you can and believe you will — achieve your dreams.

Here's to years of inspiration … a lifetime of passion!

Happy New Year to all! May it be filled with success.
