Earth tones are a significant influence in makeup, clothes and accessories for spring 2012 style. Natural textiles of leather, wood, feathers and metal are major components in belts, shoes and handbags. Soft neutral-color palettes of gray, peach, blush, cream and nude from Donna Karan and Michael Kors, for example, take on a modern chic influence in fashion. Makeup paired with this organic style-approach is fresh and pretty – a no-fuss look that radiates and glows.
For a fresh modern take on the natural look, we always want to make sure our skin is looking its best. Use Artistry essentials or Time Defiance 3-step skincare systems morning and night to maintain healthy skin. Cheeks should have a soft contoured appearance with just a slight stroke of Rosewood or Sun Kissed Cheek Colour. Dust very lightly along the cheek bone to just add a little definition. Follow by applying 3-D Face Powder to the cheek bones in Shimmer Coral for touch of sheen and radiance.
Stain lips with a touch of Subdued Lip Colour for a nude look. Finish the lips by using Light up Lip Gloss in Champagne to the center of the lips for added shine.
Hair should look very natural down with soft waves or placed in a tousled bun for windswept easy going style.

Apply Artistry Ebony Eye Liner pencil along lash line and smudge to soften the line (use the little smudge applicator on the opposite end of the eye liner applicator). For foundation, use the Artistry Tinted Moisturizer and apply Artistry Mineral Foundation over the top to set the foundation and give you additional coverage that evening makeup requires. Use one of the beautiful blushes that are available in the “Lavish in Cashmere” collection, they have a slight bit of shimmer that really adds a soft glow in evening light. Reapply your concealer to get rid of those circles under your eyes that can happen from a hard day’s work. Freshen up your mascara and reapply your blush. Use the Artistry Lip Gloss Full Coverage in Ruby Red and you are ready!
Wow, we did it. Hope these tips help when those little makeup crisis’s arise. The key is to have the products handy to create “emergency” makeup. It’s really simple and all you need is Artistry Essentials Makeup kit, Artistry “Starry Night”, “Spiral” and “Drift” Eye Shadows, Artistry Tinted Moisturizer in you correct color, a blush from the “Lavish in Cashmere” Collection and a couple of lip glosses. Why is it we all think summer is a laid back, slower pace, fun loving season when actually it is one of the busiest time of the year with vacations, school’s out, play dates, weddings, back yard grill outs, the list goes on and on. The smell of autumn is in the air. We are waking up to crisp cool mornings; warm sultry colored leaves, and craving something apple or pumpkin flavored to eat. We find ourselves reaching for an extra layer of clothing and looking for a new color in our makeup bags to add drama and depth to our typical everyday look.
Fall fashion has a dramatic vibe. It’s all about structured fitted silhouettes with feminine flowy accents. Textured jackets, capes, and sweaters are paired with feminine sheer blouses. Fitted denim jeans or leggings are tucked into cowboy inspired boots. Handbags are embellished with heavy hardware and studs, the shape, color, and texture vary. You will see everything from animal prints, black and brown patented leather, and vibrant bold color statements in handbags.

Something animal inspired: This can be a fur vest, animal printed belt or shoes, scarf, or a handbag is a good option. Animal prints are worn best paired with solid colors, and can be very casual for everyday. It’s a very fun flirty statement piece. Don’t take yourself too seriously, have fun with it!
Black leather or lace: It sounds a bit intimidating and intense, but have no fear it’s all about making it your own style. I love the look of a leather jacket over a pretty feminine floral dress or shirt. Wear a lace top under a comfy cardigan with leggings or trousers. The softness of floral fabrics, sweaters, and classic pieces with leather and lace will balance the look, making this trend wearable for everyone.
A bold color statement piece: You can be conservative and choose a scarf, belt, or watch in bright yellow or teal green, or be adventurous and choose a coat, purse, or jeans in bright blue or red. It just says your on trend and gives your wardrobe a colorful boost!
Beauty Must Haves
Defined eyeliner: Play up those gorgeous eyes with thicker bold liner along the top lash. New Artistry Automatic Eyeliner Pencil in Ebony and Shimmer Black are the perfect choices. It will pop your eye color and make your eyes appear more open not to mention, it lasts all day.

Whether we like it or not, fall is right around the corner and as the seasons change, so do the makeup trends and I want to make sure you are ready.
Red lips are in. Red lips look good on most people; there are just some tricks to wearing red correctly. Choose a shade of red that looks the best for your skin tone. Normally if your skin is more olive, choose a red that has more blue or brown undertones. If you are very fair, choose a warm red that has more pink undertones. To play it safe, a true scarlet red works for all skin tones. Red lips look great on perfect lips so you can make slight corrections with a matching red lip liner. If your lips are not smooth or you have some dry lip issues, soften the red lip look by using a clear lip balm first, then apply the lip color.
Metallic Eye Shadows. Metallic shadows can be a little intimidating but the trick is to use it appropriately for your age and everyone can wear it. If the lid is smooth and has no lines, apply from the lash line blending toward the brow bone. Stop just above the crease and blend, blend, blend. This will help to get a natural decrease in intensity by the time you reach your stopping point.
If you have some lines and you are concerned that metallic eye shadows will accentuate those lines, first apply a light shade, matte shadow over the entire lower lid from lash line to brow bone and apply the metallic color just along the lash line. Check out Artistry’s essentials Colour Quad in Dark. The two colors ”Discreet” and “Polished” in that eye shadow quad are great metallic colors. If you want to try something more cutting edge for color, try Artistry Eye Colour in “Glacier” and “Charm”.
Brighter Blush. We are all a little afraid of bright blush colors and don’t want to feel like we are wearing Grandma’s bright pink “rouge”. The new brighter blush colors are usually a sheer formula and have a more natural “blushing” look. Apply an ample amount of the blush color and then blend with a big puffy powder brush or a kabuki type brush. I like the Artistry Cheek Colours “Passion Pink”, “Cache” and “Sun Kissed”.

I’m going to get a little cheeky, and talk about blush. It is one of my favorite beauty products, and can be your secret beauty weapon! Blush is a product that can be used alone for a fresh faced minimal look, or with eyes and lips to pull everything together. Whatever look you’re going for, day or night, finding the perfect blush provides a healthy fresh glow to the skin. Therefore blush is a must!
First, you need to choose the color. The best way to determine this is to choose one close to your cheeks natural color, like after you’re flushed from exercising or being out in the cold. Fair skin tends to go pink or rose, and Artistry Cheek Colour in Rosewood or Pink Passion are perfect color choices for you to add a pop of color. Deeper skin tones go peach, apricot, and red. Artistry Cheek Colour in Sun Kissed is the ideal choice for these warmer skin tones. This gorgeous apricot shade gives a glow, highlighting the cheeks for a fresh-faced look!
Now that the color is chosen, we need to apply it correctly. It doesn’t matter which order you apply the blush, but I like to apply it before my eyes and lips. You’ll be surprised how bright your eyes and skin look with just blush on your cheeks. For a simple daytime look you could wear your favorite Artistry Blush, a few coats of mascara in black on the lashes, and Artistry Light Up Lip Gloss in your favorite shade to finish. It’s just an easy, fresh, and pretty everyday look.
First, place the blush on your brush. The brushes that come in the case are great for touch ups; use the Blush Brush from the Artistry Brush Set for the ideal blush application. It’s a bit larger and contours the cheek for mistake-proof application. Tap the excess color off of brush, and look into the mirror. Give yourself a big smile. This will show you the apples of your cheeks. Place the brush on the apples and slightly move up along the cheek bone toward the temples in a sweeping motion. Repeat this step a few times, and finish by blending downward along the cheekbone for even application. It’s not difficult; you just don’t want to overdo the color. A little blush goes a long way!
To take blush into evening, intensify the blush by applying one more layer of color, or choose a deeper shade that compliments your eye and lip colors. For the perfect glow add Artistry 3D Face Powder on top to create the perfect illuminating glow. Swirl your brush over Artistry 3D Face Powder and sweep over top of cheek bones near the eye for that radiant glow and perfect evening look.
Now go out there and glow! Get cheeky, and have fun with it, nothing beats a little blush day or night!!!!
I learned so many things on my big day that I am just itching to pass on to future brides. All of that prep, primping, spraying, blotting and stressing… was it all really necessary? Some of it, yes! Some of it… no way.
Here are the 5 key learnings from my wedding day beauty adventure.
1) When it comes to your hair, do some serious research. I was all about budgeting, cutting costs here and there and going for a more “minimalist” approach. However, I went to a stylist that had a stellar reputation, did an incredible job while testing out different looks, and worked wonders on the day of. In fact, when I woke up the next day for our 6 a.m. flight, my hair STILL looked good!
2) Don’t use any heavy skin care treatments right beforehand. You never know how your skin will react! I used Artistry’s intensive skincare renewing peel about 4 days prior. I knew ahead of time that this product has not irritated my skin whatsoever, but I still wasn’t taking any chances since my skin is a bit on the unpredictable side. My face was glowing and smooth for makeup application!
3) Makeup. Korey isn’t a fan of a face full of makeup. I’m not either. I wanted him to see me walking down the aisle, and not some overly made up stranger! My makeup look was minimal with a soft smokey eye and a pink lip. Definitely take your time on your skin prep and foundation as that’s what you’ll really notice in pictures!
4) Upkeep. It was a HOT DAY. As soon as we all walked outside for pictures, we melted into a bridal party puddle. To touch up my makeup afterwards, I brought along concealer (to cover up any runaway eyeliner), some translucent powder (for that 90 degree “glow”), a soft pink blush to freshen up my complexion, and my lip color of choice for the day (Spring Trend Collection Bloom In Colour Lip Colour in Plum Blossom - LOVE IT!). If you are a big emotional baby like me, don’t forget to wear waterproof or water resistant mascara! This all fit easily into my small clutch. Anything extra I brought ended up unused. Less is best!
5) Lastly, with all of the months of stress and planning, don’t forget to steal a moment with your new hubby, take a deep breath, and take it all in. If you don’t, there’s a good chance that it will all be a blur and you won’t get to enjoy what all that preparation results in. This is the most beautiful part of the day.
