Create an illuminating eye brightening and glossy look by Gina Roth for Artistry.
Go for a glossy lid on any night of the year to make a dramatic statement. Whether you prefer a smoky eye or a look more natural, adding gloss to any eye makeup will add dimension and radiance to your look. Make sure to go for lush lashes with Artistry Ultimate Black Mascara, add bold definition with Artistry Shimmer Black Automatic Eyeliner Pencil, and finish the look with a deep lip colour like Opulent, the perfect shade for evening glamour!
Create a Glossy Eye
The key to achieving a glossy eye is to apply the gloss last, on top of the eye shadow and after applying eyeliner and mascara.
Use a lip brush with Artistry Sheer Lip Gloss, and apply gloss only to the center of your eye lid, and try to keep gloss away from the upper lash line.
Apply the gloss without eye shadow if your eye makeup tends to move or transfer. Use gloss alone on a naked eye if you prefer a more natural evening look.
For the day get a clean, yet defined look with fresh neutral shadows. A great way to welcome in the New Year is with a new bright and modern eye look.
Create a Bright Eye
Apply foundation to your eyelid and under your eye.
Use concealer to hide any imperfection or dark circles from signs of the night before.
Place on Starry Night (white) eye shadow to the base of your lid, along the inner corner, and under the brow bone.
Apply Drift (dark brown) eye shadow along the top crease, and softly along the lower lash line, creating a connection with the shadow on the outer corner of the upper and lower lash line for a complete look.
Welcome the ice, snow, and cool air by saying hello to winter eyes! Get bright, romantic, and smoky eye looks designed by Gina Roth for Artistry. Winter is the perfect time of year to play up those gorgeous gazers with beautiful new eye looks.
Bright Eyes
Go bright with Artistry Starry Night Eye Colour applied over the entire eyelid, sweep Drift in the crease, and finish with Artistry Automatic Eyeliner in Ebony. Apply the eyeliner only over the top of your eyelid very close to the lash line, and leave the bottom bare. This will create the look of bright, fresh, and awake eyes.
Subtle Green Eyes
Get soft romantic green eyes with Artistry Silk Eye Colour over the entire eyelid. Secondly, lightly brush Eden Eye Colour above the crease blending well. Then, apply Rain Forest focusing the on the inner crease only. Use Espresso Automatic Eyeliner Pencil on the lower lash line and layer Shimmer Black Eyeliner over the upper eyelid creating dimension and definition.
Smoky Rose Eyes
Begin by applying Artistry Charm Eye Colour all over the eye from lash to brow as your base. Sweep Drift in the crease and blend the shadow in an upward motion. Then, use Spiral Eye Colour directly into the crease, and blend well giving it a gradient effect. Apply Exquisite on the outer half of lid, and Fusion to the inner half of the eyelid. Bring this smoky look all together with Bronze Automatic Eyeliner applied along the lower lash line.
Winter eyes will look complete and even better with perfectly defined brows. It creates a lifting effect to your eyes, and with defined brows you will not need to use as much eye makeup.
Keep an eye cream in your purse to apply under the eye area. This will refresh your makeup before friendly get-togethers or New Year festivities. It will hydrate the skin under the eyes making it appear bright and less tired without having to reapply or redo your makeup. Artistry recently launched Crème Luxury Eye will hydrate, firm, and helps your skin act up to 15 years younger!
Play up those winter eyes with great Artistry looks for the chilly season.

For foundation, use the Artistry Tinted Moisturizer and apply Artistry Mineral Foundation over the top to set the foundation and give you additional coverage that evening makeup requires. It is the time of year that we have many occasions that include gift giving. It is a time to say thank you, I think of you, I appreciate all you do, teacher’s gifts, Club gifts, along with the holiday hostess gifts, etc.
We all have ideas for gifts for family and loved ones but what about the others. You want the gift to be thoughtful and something the person receiving the gift can enjoy but let’s face it, it’s hard to give a gift that is both meaningful and useful on a budget. You can give the usual scented candle, Truffles or boxes of stationary or you can look at the everyday things that you yourself enjoy.
Here is my list of ideas that might help you with these hard to find but useful gifts.
This is a no brainer. Everyone would love one of these lip glosses. It comes in great colors and is perfect for the women on the go. You can use it anywhere because it has its own mirror attached to the side of the gloss tube and when you open it, it lights up. You can apply your gloss anywhere, even in the dark.
Eye shadow and eye liner duos
I love to pair up one of the new Artistry eye shadow trios in the “Lavish in Cashmere” collection with a new eye liner in one of 5 colors from the new Artistry Automatic Pencil Refill and Holder. What a great gift for the person in your life that enjoys wearing eye makeup. It’s trendy color and packaged beautifully.
Eye Makeup Remover and a new Mascara
I love to open a new tube of mascara. I think it makes for a great day. Pair that up with a great way to remove it at night and what could be better. Most women use mascara and would also appreciate the remover to go with it. It really beats a scented candle.
The new blushes in the Artistry “Lavish in Cashmere” collection are so gorgeous and even the women that only likes a little makeup will love. There are two colors available. Soft Pink that has a little gold shimmer and Soft Rose that has a little silver shimmer. Never too much but gives the skin a little glow that makes the skin look healthy but not over done. Pair that up with one of the new Artistry Sheer Coverage Lip Glosses and you have a real winner.
Makeup Brushes
The new Artistry Lavish Brush set is perfect for the person on the go. You have three great brushes, an Eye Shadow, Blush and Eyeliner brush in their own case that is ready for travel. The case even has a magnetic closure that protects the brushes while you are traveling.
Skincare
Give a great eye cream or skincare system that suits the recipient’s skin type. My favorite to give is the Artistry Essential Replenishing Eye Cream. It comes in a tube so it’s portable, it can be used throughout the day, even over your makeup and everyone can use it.
These are just a few of the ideas you can get by just using a little imagination and a good makeup and skincare catalog like the one available from Artistry or shop Amway.com/artistry (It’s called shopping in you slippers, what could be better then that!). Happy holiday giving!
I thought it would be quite fitting to talk about bats this time of year, since Halloween is only days away. I’m speaking about batting your pretty lashes and taking notice of your gorgeous eyes, and not the frightening animal flying through the night.
Defining and drawing attention to your eyes is quite easy to do. It brings focus to the color of your eyes, in addition to making them look brighter, more intense, and your lashes look fuller. With this makeup artist tip you can create your own bold beautiful eyes.
Regardless of your hair, skin, or eye color, go for Artistry Ebony Automatic Eyeliner to line your eyes. Line the top of your eye by laying the pencil along the lash line and follow it to the corner of your eye, making the line a bit thicker as you get to the outer edge. Use the sponge tip at the other end of the liner to blend the line into lash so there is no skin showing between the lash and the liner. You may want to add another layer of liner if you want it even more dark and dramatic.
Next apply Artistry Essentials Black Mascara to the top lashes only. Use a lash curler if you’d like before hand to bend the lashes and open the eye even more. The trick to applying mascara and creating thick long lashes is to start at the base of the eye lashes and wiggle the mascara brush slightly back and forth through the lash in an upward motion. Repeat this step at least three times for the most luscious looking lashes.
With a little added drama to your eyes with black eyeliner and extra coats of mascara it will draw focus to your eyes. Eye shadow is always great to wear, but liner and mascara give the most definition to your eyes. The eyes will appear more open and bright and every time your bat your eyes you will be noticed.
The hottest Spring Summer Fashion 2012 Show was in New York at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Prestigious designers, world renowned editors and super stars were all the buzz. Being a makeup artist at the Artistry Beauty Lounge, I found one common denominator in some of the questions that I encountered. “How does one keep their eye liner from smudging or transferring?” To many of us in the makeup field, this is a concern that is frequently discussed. Unfortunately, there is no magic answer but there are tips and techniques you can put in place.
The best option would be a waterproof eyeliner. There are times though, when we don’t have access to waterproof cosmetics and there may be times when our favorite color isn’t available in a water-resistant formula. I would like to suggest some steps you can take to obtain the longest wear possible.
Your daytime regimen will also include your eye cream. Here is where you have to be your own skin care expert. We have no oil glands underneath the eye. That is where we typically begin to show the first signs of aging. It is also the thinnest skin on our body. The appropriate under eye skin care is of the upmost importance. However, too much eye cream will tend to make your bottom eyeliner smear. A lotion versus a cream during the day might be a better option, since our skin does repair at night you would then want to use the Time Defiance Eye Cream.
Applying the eye cream on the orbital bone will be sufficient. When your body temperature warms up your eye cream will travel up where it needs to go. Also, avoid the eye cream on the lid during the day. (It may cause your eye shadow to crease.)
When you’re applying your Artistry Automatic Eyeliner Pencil, a great way to put it on is always be sure to line the top of your lid. Keep it nice and tight to your lash line for a natural classic look. Next taking a flat brush such as Artistry essentials Eyeliner Brush, dampen it with water. Place it in a deep pigmented eye shadow, such as Artistry Expresso, Steel, or Capri. Be sure to tap of the excess powder. Using the brush, press it over the top of your pencil liner, pushing it into your lash line. The powder sets the pencil liner.
When doing the bottom, you may want to skip lining with a pencil altogether if your liner transfers. Eyeliner pencils contain wax to make them glide on easier. If you want to line the bottom you can do the same steps as above or just use a little powder to sweep along the lash line.
As I look outside today and see the blue gray skies, it reminds me that summer is limited and fall is just around the corner. The fall looks this year are glamorous, chic and decade inspired; meaning the best from every decade. I myself just purchased a beautiful peacock blue suede Hobo Bag, kind of a flash back to the 80’s but modernized with chunky gold chains and leather straps. I can’t wait to use it along with a great pair of stacked heels.

The color blue is all over the fashion industry right now. It is bold and beautiful. Whether you choose it for your home or personal fashion, you can’t go wrong.
Your skin care and cosmetics are part of your wardrobe as well. What is your favorite piece that you can’t live without? Mine happens to be the Artistry Balancing Foundation. I can’t ever go wrong with it. My skin care system does need to change like everyone else’s according to the seasons; especially if you want the perfect
finish.
With that being said, I can’t wait to update my cosmetic wardrobe, and one of my first choices will be the Artistry Bloom in Colour Eye Compact in Refresh. This compact is so fun and can be worn by everyone. Artistry Eye Colour in Glacier, Capri and Steel are also great choices.
You can get a casual look with Artistry matte ivory shadow all over the eye lid from lash line to under brow bone, then apply the middle color to lid and blend. Next add your black eyeliner tight on your lash line a couple coats of Artistry Essentials Mascara and you’re done!
If you’re looking for a more glam look you can use three colors starting with the lightest, layering with the medium, then the darkest into your crease. Always be sure you’re blending. Finish with black liner and again with two coats of Artistry essentials Mascara.
There are many shades of blue, which one are you going to try? Remember it’s makeup, have fun and be creative!
I learned so many things on my big day that I am just itching to pass on to future brides. All of that prep, primping, spraying, blotting and stressing… was it all really necessary? Some of it, yes! Some of it… no way.
Here are the 5 key learnings from my wedding day beauty adventure.
1) When it comes to your hair, do some serious research. I was all about budgeting, cutting costs here and there and going for a more “minimalist” approach. However, I went to a stylist that had a stellar reputation, did an incredible job while testing out different looks, and worked wonders on the day of. In fact, when I woke up the next day for our 6 a.m. flight, my hair STILL looked good!
2) Don’t use any heavy skin care treatments right beforehand. You never know how your skin will react! I used Artistry’s intensive skincare renewing peel about 4 days prior. I knew ahead of time that this product has not irritated my skin whatsoever, but I still wasn’t taking any chances since my skin is a bit on the unpredictable side. My face was glowing and smooth for makeup application!
3) Makeup. Korey isn’t a fan of a face full of makeup. I’m not either. I wanted him to see me walking down the aisle, and not some overly made up stranger! My makeup look was minimal with a soft smokey eye and a pink lip. Definitely take your time on your skin prep and foundation as that’s what you’ll really notice in pictures!
4) Upkeep. It was a HOT DAY. As soon as we all walked outside for pictures, we melted into a bridal party puddle. To touch up my makeup afterwards, I brought along concealer (to cover up any runaway eyeliner), some translucent powder (for that 90 degree “glow”), a soft pink blush to freshen up my complexion, and my lip color of choice for the day (Spring Trend Collection Bloom In Colour Lip Colour in Plum Blossom - LOVE IT!). If you are a big emotional baby like me, don’t forget to wear waterproof or water resistant mascara! This all fit easily into my small clutch. Anything extra I brought ended up unused. Less is best!
5) Lastly, with all of the months of stress and planning, don’t forget to steal a moment with your new hubby, take a deep breath, and take it all in. If you don’t, there’s a good chance that it will all be a blur and you won’t get to enjoy what all that preparation results in. This is the most beautiful part of the day.
Good luck to all of you up and coming brides – I hope your day will be as magical as mine was! Now… to figure out what to do with my time now that it’s over…
My best friend/maid of honor and I! (Can you tell it’s 90+ degrees??)
It’s that time again, ladies and gents. Time to put away all of your winter skin care and cosmetics and dust off your best summer face!
I’m sure if you’ve ever tried it before, you know that your favorite heavy creams, lotions and winter hues just don’t work come 75 degree weather with humidity. Here’s some easy ways to transition your routines without wreaking havoc on your between-seasons skin!
1. We’ll tell you a million times – make sure you apply suncreen! If you will be in the sun, make sure to keep applying throughout the day.
2. Don’t stop moisturizing when the temp goes up! Simply lighten up your lotion. Most people don’t need a heavy creme unless they have extra dry skin.
3. Exfoliation doesn’t just remove dry skin, it helps bring out a brighter more luminous complexion! Who doesn’t want that come summer?!
4. Lighten up the lips! Summery, shimmery pink and coral lips will warm up your face instantly!
5. Bring a brave new color into your world. Have you been using warm browns and neutrals on your eyes? Try a warm pink instead!
6. Make the switch to a tinted moisturiser from your typical heavier foundation. This will let your skin breath and won’t melt on the long, humid days!
7. Try skipping the mascara and liner on your lower lashes and lashline. Not only will it help open up your eyes, you won’t have to worry about it traveling south.
8. Apply a light coral blush and skip the deeper plums and reddish tones. This will give you a sun-kissed look without the sun’s help!
In our travels around the country, we are often asked about using white eye shadow. How and where do you use it? Who should use it? Is it only used for dramatic looks or can you use it for every day? White eye shadow should be a staple in your makeup bag, so here are some tips and tricks so you learn to love your white shadow!
Using matte white shadow
Use matte white shadow as a base shadow, applying it from the lash line to the brow. It will soften the appearance of the eye color you are planning to apply and it creates a blending base and smooth application for your eye color.
Apply the shadow under the brow arch on the brow bone to make your eyes look open and bright.
Use it to softly wash over a colored iridescent shadow to decrease the shine to a soft glow.
If you have dark eye lids, apply white shadow from the lash line to the brow to lighten the lid area.
If pink eye shadow makes your eyes look red and tired, replace with white eye shadow. You get the same effect with better results!
Use on the brow bone when doing a smoky, iridescent shadow eye look.
Apply a wash of white from lash line to brow. Apply a precise line of black eye liner at the lash line. Use black mascara after applying a few individual false eyelashes for a classic dramatic eye look. This look is really pretty with a dramatic lip color (like red) and no blush. The result is Hollywood Classic Screen Star look!
Apply over the entire upper lid from the lash line to the brow. Apply the eye shadow color you wish over the top to get a soft, shimmery glow.
Apply with your fingers along lower lash line to give the eye a lift.
Using white shadow over the entire lid, along the lower lash line and with a healthy coat of black mascara on your lashes will give you a very icy cool look for evening. Be sure your brows are well defined for this look!
Using your finger, apply a small amount to the center of your lower lid after you have applied your shadow color to brighten your eyes.
Try some of the tips and tricks I have shared and learn to love your white eye shadow!
