Can you hear it?

The roar of excitement is rushing through the air here in West Michigan!

Our very own Miss America, Teresa Scanlan, is here to visit us in Ada and to meet all of her adoring Amway fans!

We kicked off her trip yesterday with a trip to the spa, a delicious dinner and a good night’s sleep to prep for the crazy week ahead.

We all greeted her with a red carpet welcome at the World Headquarters this morning.  She treated us with a piano performance of White Water Chopsticks, the talent that blew everyone away at this year’s pageant.

Teresa then received a tour of the Welcome Center as well as our labs – she even had the chance to make her own lipstick and lotion! One lucky employee and a guest even had an opportunity to sit and share lunch with her. This afternoon, all of our employees will get to meet Teresa, have their picture taken with her as well as get an autograph.  This is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity!

The rest of the week will be filled with photo and video shoots, interviews with local news, and some incredible events for the Boys and Girls Club, including a telethon at the Palace of Auburn Hills!

We couldn’t be more honored and excited to have her here with us this week.  Teresa is a true gem and we can’t wait to get to know her more and more as the week (and year) progresses.

Stay tuned for pictures and recaps throughout the week!

With all of the pageant buzz and Light Up Lip Gloss in the hands of our Artistry Lounge visitors, we can’t help but want to brag about this product.  We just can’t get enough of it!  While we are running back in forth this week trying to cover all of the excitement, we can’t think of anything more convenient.  No time to get to your room to freshen up? Whip this out of your pocket and give yourself a quick glance and a sweep of gloss!

In case you missed it, we aren’t alone in our love for this pocket sized shimmery pick me up.  Kathie Lee Gifford featured our Champagne shade on the Today Show this past week as one of her favorite things.  We have to agree that the color looks incredible on her and we couldn’t be happier that she loves it as much as we do!

If you didn’t get a chance to see the segment, take a peek!

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I must get back to the excitement :)

Preliminaries Night 1 - Scholorship Winners
Miss Hawaii Jalee Fuselier (Lifestyle & Fitness) and
Miss North Carolina Adrienne Core (Talent)

When I arrived in Las Vegas, I didn’t anticipate how intense, fast paced, exciting and elaborate the Miss America pageant would truly be.  We entered the Planet Hollywood Westgate Towers weary from a long day of travel, and walked right into a cloud of glittering tiaras, stunning cocktail dresses and dazzling ultra-white smiles.  These girls are gorgeous, self assured and exactly what you would imagine a Miss America contestant to be.  We took a few minutes to watch them do a couple interviews.  Not only are they incredibly beautiful, they speak with maturity, conviction and passion in regard to their individual platforms and the organization as a whole.

The process doesn’t look easy, that’s for sure.  There’s a lot of waiting, nerves, celebrities, sky high heels, competitive air, and long, long, exhausting days.

These women are phenomenal!

The preliminaries were an eye opener.  There was an array of talents and passionate issues and young women with poise someone 20 years their elder would dream of having.  Some of these women could straight up take your breath away.  How do they do all of this and make it look so easy?

Just when you think that these women can’t possibly be real, you get a glimpse of them behind the scenes – giggling, talking 90 mph, and whisking their stacks of dresses, cosmetics and accessories off to start the preparations.  You then remember that they ARE real.  Miss America is real – a real woman who loves laughing with her friends, is feeling the jitters of the pageant and all it entails, and has been dealing with the same insecurities as you or me.

What more could you want the young girls of America to look up to?  Intelligence, passion for health and beauty, and aware of what’s truly important in this world.  All of these contestants carry these qualities.  The Miss America organization has to be so proud.

Take the time to watch the pageant this Saturday, January 15th at 9 p.m.  Not only will you get the chance to see Artistry alive and in action, you will feel some true inspiration.  I know I already have!
