How much activity is too much activity?

For all of those who do not know me, I work in the Amway North America Digital Marketing department. I have never been much of a health wiz, but I love blogging! I decided to begin blogging for The Health Advocate for two main reasons; working with Nutrilite products has convinced me I need to learn more about living a well balanced life, and being a mom has made me realize that there are lots of health and nutrition issues and information that I should be more aware of. So, I invite you on this journey with me. If you are a novice like myself, you can learn along with me. If you are a far more experienced health expert, I employ you to send your comments, feedback and question to help improve and begin needed conversations.

For my first blog, I want to discuss a topic that has been very relevant to my life (and many others, so I hear). What I want to know from readers is how do you decide as parents how many activities your kids should be involved in?

With all the news of childhood obesity it has become obvious that this generation of children need to spend more time enjoying physical activities. But, how much? My son is seven and wants to play every sport imaginable! I am all for participating in team sports, but should a seven year-old have a more complex schedule than me? And, in the midst of all this running around and competitiveness, is he getting the nutrition, sleep and relaxation he needs to develop? Is the rest of the family getting these things?

Do you have any advice for deciding how much your kids participate or any secrets on how to manage the family when things get crazy busy? Let me know!
