Don't worry, I'm not going to ask you for your resolutions or give you mine. I'll save that for a later post!
With the new year, comes more changes to the Team Nutrilite family. Specifically, with the end of a decade, we also see the end of a great, three year partnership with Jenn Stuczynski and Track & Field events in the U.S.
When Nutrilite decided to sponsor Jenn Stuczynski, her name wasn't synonymous with pole vaulting. We took a chance on each other. As partners, Jenn has gone on to set American records in both the indoor and outdoor pole vault for women, is the only American woman to ever clear 16 feet, is the second-best female pole vaulter of all time, is a four-time indoor and outdoor USA Champion, and an Olympic Silver Medalist.
It is with tremendous gratitude and respect that we announce the end of our relationship with Jenn. She was a tireless worker on behalf of Nutrilite, appearing in national television advertising for NUTRILITE Concentrated Fruits and Vegetables, and making countless appearances signing autographs at NUTRILITE-sponsored events for fans and IBOs alike, as well as attending IBO-only events during her time as a sponsored athlete. Her belief in and advocacy of the brand was evident whenever she made appearances on our behalf and for that, we thank her.
Nutrilite will also end our sponsorships of major track and field events, including the Boston Indoor Games, Tyson Invitational, adidas Track Classic, Reebok Grand Prix, and the Prefontaine Classic.
The 2010 focus is very firmly on our relationships with the Rock 'n Roll Marathons as well as the Phytonutrient Campaign that kicked off last October.
Please join us in a HUGE, heartfelt thank you to Jenn, her coach, her agent and the folks that put on these world-class events for their time and tireless support of Nutrilite's efforts in the sport.
The Boston Indoor Games are in the book and what a great event it was for Nutrilite and Team Nutrilite athlete Jenn Stuczynski.
The Nutrilite brand was well represented – around the track, in the stands, in the consumer tent, in the IBO VIP area and of course by Jenn. In case you missed my "Live from the Boston Indoor Games" post, Jenn set the American indoor record and made a great attempt at the world record. My gut says she might well get that world record this coming weekend in Arkansas.
Next stop – Fayetteville, Arkansas In its tenth year, the Tyson Invitational is held annually at the Randal Tyson Track Center on the campus of the University of Arkansas. It’s where many world-leading and collegiate records have been set. The meet will be televised on ESPN.
You can watch Nutrilite-sponsored athlete Jenn Stuczynski, named 2008 Track & Field News American Female Athlete of the Year, soar to new heights during the pole vault event and meet her afterward for an autograph.
You’re invited to attend the 2009 Tyson Invitation. Tickets are available at www.tysoninvitational.net or by calling 800-766-4626.
Can’t make it in person? Watch the action during a taped broadcast of the event that airs on ESPN from 5–7 p.m. ET on Sunday, February 15, 2009.
The view from outside the VIP area at the Boston Indoor Games (above) and the view outside of the Nutrilite tent (below). Should be a similar view at the Tyson Invitational!
Nutrilite-sponsored athletes Sanya
Richards and Jenn Stuczynski competed in the Tyson Invitational last
night. In addition, they both did appearances for Nutrilite following their
events, signing autographs in the Nutrilite tent for an extremely impressive
line of fans!!
JENN
Jenn, American Record Holder for the
Women’s Pole Vault, continued her dominance in the event, beating out a crowded
field of professionals to win the Nutrilite Women’s Pole Vault with a height of
15 feet, 2 3/4 inches on misses.
Something fun:
Jenn got a sweet, new pole bag prior to the event. In features the Team
Nutrilite green and black colors, Jenn’s name and a large Nutrilite logo. See
if you can spot it during ESPN’s coverage of the Tyson Invitational! (Special
thanks to UCS for doing such a fab job on putting the new bag together!!!!)
SANYA
Sanya,
American Record holder for the 400-meter sprint, decided to change things up at
the Tyson Invitational and ran the Nutrilite Women’s 60-meter sprint. If you
don’t typically follow indoor track and field, the 60-meter sprint may sound
unfamiliar to you. Because the tracks are smaller at indoor venues than outdoor
tracks, the 60-meter sprint is run instead of a 100-meter sprint. This event is
normally run on a straight section of the indoor athletic track (which is only
200 meters per lap), or on a straight track in the middle of the infield.
With
the 60-meter sprint, the races only last about seven seconds, which means that having
good reflexes and thus getting off to a quick start is more vital in this race
than any other.
Carmelita Jeter won the women's 60
in 7.27 seconds. Sanya finished sixth, but she gained some great experience
really focusing on her quick start, which she’ll be applying to her training
for her signature event: the 400-meter sprint.
Something fun:
Watch for the Nutrilite branded finish line tape for this event during ESPN’s
coverage of the Tyson Invitational.
Something nerdy: So, even I get star-struck by some of the athletes that I get to hang
out with as I travel around the country with Team Nutrilite. That being said, I
just had to get my picture taken with Sanya’s fiancé, Aaron Ross. Aaron is the
Cornerback for the Super Bowl winnin’ New York Giants!
“It doesn't hurt to be
Aaron Ross: File this one under "good things happening to good
people." In the span of three years, former Longhorn Aaron Ross has won
the Jim Thorpe Award, a national football championship and the Super Bowl.
Along the way he signed a $13 million contract with the Giants and got engaged
to Sanya Richards.
What's next, a win over
Federer at Wimbledon?”
PICTURES FROM THE TYSON INVITATIONAL WILL BE POSTED SOON!!

The Tyson Invitational will be televised on ESPN, February 17 (tomorrow!), 5:00-7:00 p.m. (EST)
So, I recently created a new fan site for Jenn Stuczynski in Facebook.com. The group is called "Jenn Stuczynski – Constantly Raising the Bar" and it's designed for fans and followers of Jenn. I'm excited to announce that's already 150 members strong and growing!! Woo-hoo!!
As you know, Jenn is a Nutrilite-sponsored athlete and American Record Holder for the Women's Pole Vault.
If you haven't checked the group out yet, add it to your list of things to do. I'll be keeping the group updated with new pictures, videos, etc.
Also, while you're updating your list of things to do, make sure that you watch Jenn competing at the Tyson Invitational! (Even though I'll be at the event to watch it live in Fayetteville, Arkansas on Feb. 15, I've already got it programmed into my TiVo so I can watch the highlights again when I get home!!) The Tyson Invitational is scheduled to be Televised on ESPN,
February 17, 5:00-7:00 p.m. (ET) .
Nutrilite-sponsored athletes Sanya Richards and Jenn Stuczynski will both be doing autograph signings during the 2008 Tyson Invitational in the Nutrilite tent. (Nutrilite is the exclusive vitamin, mineral and supplement brand of the 2008 Tyson Invitational.)
Well,
Jenn has won a lot of events, but she'll have to wait at least another year to
have a shot at the ever-elusive Millrose Games. It's the only major U.S. event Jenn
has not won.
After
much hype, Stacy Dragila was eliminated first in the women’s pole vault
competition during the Millrose Games.
Both Jenn
and Jillian Schwartz cleared the winning height of 15 ft. 2 ¼ in., but Jillian
won because she had fewer misses. For Jillian, the 15-2 ¼ mark was a personal
best, both indoors and outdoors. Congrats to Jillian!
I know that Jenn really wants
another shot at the American Indoor Pole Vault record, and she still has plenty
of time to get it. Her next chance: 2008 Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, AR
on Feb. 15– sponsored by Nutrilite! Join us at the event to cheer her on in
person!!
